Alert! The Academy at Old Cockrill is full for the 2nd quarter. Applications are now being accepted for the 3rd quarter, which starts in January.
Note! The Academy at Opry Mills is still accepting applications for the 2nd quarter. | The Academy is for students who haven't, aren't or can't succeed in a traditional high school environment. It's for people who have a job or are supporting their families. It's for students who gave up on a high school education, only to regret their decision later.
We have an open campus, far away from the traditional high school experience. Every student will be treated like an adult, and we will expect adult behavior from them.
The Academy is NOT an alternative school and not for children who just don't like where they're going to high school. All students will be at The Academy by invitation only. Violent and aggressive students will not be invited to attend, nor those with turancy issues.
At The Academy, we can help you get a diploma fast, but you will earn it - through hard work and dedication. There will be a strict attendance policy and a strong system for accountability.
Every student of The Academy will have the ability to succeed. We will simply provide them the tools.

We are looking for the following:
- Students who are between the ages of 17 and 21;
- Students with at least 14 ½ credits; (If you have fewer than 14 ½ credits, click here to learn about Nashville Diploma Plus High School.)
- Students who dropped out their senior year;
- Students who are not slated to graduate on time in the 2009-2010 school year; and
- Students who dropped out the second semester of their junior year.
How does the application process work?
- Students are invited to attend the adult high schools.
- Each student applying will be interviewed before admitted.
- Interviews will begin the first week of July and continue through-out the summer.
- This is not a school for students who have had behavior problems.
- The student (not the parent) must have a strong desire to complete their program of studies.
- This is a no frills education, meaning the schools only offer classes. Lunch is not served and transportation is not provided.
